About Us

Michael T. Hartsfield

Attorney Michael T. Hartsfield is a lifelong Memphian. His maternal ancestors settled in Shelby County, Tennessee in 1828. After graduating from the Memphis City School System, he attended Vanderbilt University where he attained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1964 and a Juris Doctorate degree from Vanderbilt Law School in 1967. He has been engaged in the general practice of law for 50 years. He has been associated with several general practice lawyers throughout the years, who have shared their experience, knowledge, ethics of practice, and culture of hard work for their clients. His has been associated with his son, attorney Andrew T. Hartsfield since 2006 where they enjoy working together as a team in providing legal services for their clients.

 

Attorney Michael Hartsfield has practiced law in all of the Shelby County Courts, to wit: General Sessions, Circuit, Chancery, Probate, Circuit Criminal, City Court, and the Memphis Shelby County Juvenile Court. He has also practiced in the U.S. Federal District Court. U.S. Bankruptcy Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the Tennessee Court of Appeals. 


Attorney Michael Hartsfield engages in the general practice of law, with a large percentage of his practice being in estate planning and probate matters, domestic disputes, and corporate matters. He actively engages in personal injury matters. His cases are primarily in Tennessee but he has been associated with other lawyers in matters in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana. 


Attorney Michael Hartsfield is a member of the Memphis Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association. He was an Eagle Scout with three palms and was earned the God and Country Award as a Boy Scout. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow. He has been an active member of the First Baptist Church for more than 50 years and has served as deacon chair of the church. He was also co-chair of the First Baptist Church's 175 years' celebration. He also has served as a Trustee on the Church's Endowment Board since its inception.

Andrew T. Hartsfield

Attorney Andrew Hartsfield is a native of Memphis, having attended Presbyterian Day School and Memphis University School. He is a graduate of the University of Richmond, where he earned degrees in Business Administration and Political Science, cum laude. Immediately following his undergraduate studies Andrew attended Tulane Law School in New Orleans, where he served as Managing Editor of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal, a legal journal which has been cited by the United States Supreme Court multiple times. During law school, he also worked as a judicial extern for Federal District Judge Carl Barbier, the judge who presided over the BP oil spill in Louisiana. He graduated from law school in 2004. 


Following law school Andrew served as a judicial law clerk to Judge David Chandler of the Mississippi Court of Appeals in Jackson, Mississippi, writing legal opinions that became precedent in Mississippi law. Andrew is a member of the Tennessee and Mississippi bar and maintains an active practice in both states. 


Andrew returned to Memphis in 2006 and associated with his father in law practice, which he has been doing ever since. He feels fortunate to draw upon the experience, knowledge and wisdom of his father, who in turn had been mentored by talented lawyers who had been dedicated to the profession. He is committed to maintaining the ethics, professionalism, and civility that his mentors in the law have shown. 


Andrew maintains a general law practice, with an emphasis on real estate closings and elder law/estate planning. He also has extensive experience in other practice areas, including but not limited to domestic relations/divorce, personal injury, collections, bankruptcy, Social Security, and general litigation. Having a working knowledge of several areas of the law allows for creative solutions to your legal problems. 


Andrew is a member of the Memphis, Tennessee, and Mississippi Bar Associations and is a member of Business Networking International. He attends Second Presbyterian Church. 


The most satisfying part of Andrew's practice is building personal and professional relationships with his clients. He gives each case the individualized attention it deserves.
